DOL 112 PT100 PT1000 and NTC Temperature Sensor

DOL 112 is an effective, affordable temperature sensor known for the durability characteristic of high-quality dol-sensors products. It is especially suitable for demanding environments where robust construction is essential.

DOL 112 comes in six variants:

  • PT100 with 2 wires
  • PT100 with 3 or 4 wires
  • PT1000 with 2 wires
  • PT1000 with 3 or 4 wires
  • NTC 1K with 2 wires
  • NTC 10K with 2 wires

The DOL 112 Temperature Sensor operates over a wide range from -40 to +100 °C, making it versatile for indoor and outdoor temperature measurement.

This sensor is IP 68 certified, indicating excellent dust and water resistance. It can withstand complete immersion in water up to one metre deep for more than 30 minutes.

PT100 and PT1000 2-wire configuration

In a 2-wire configuration, PT100 and PT1000 sensors connect to the measuring device with just two wires: one for the current source and one for voltage measurement. The connecting wires' resistance adds to the total resistance of the PT100 and PT1000 sensors, potentially causing inaccuracies, especially over longer wire lengths. This is the simplest configuration but provides the least accurate results because there is no wire-resistance compensation.

PT100 and PT1000 3-wire configuration

The 3-wire configuration compensates for the additional resistance of the connecting wires. It uses three wires: two for the current source and one for voltage measurement. By measuring the voltage drop across the sensor wires, their resistance can be estimated and subtracted from the total measured resistance, improving accuracy compared with a 2-wire setup. This configuration is commonly used where moderate accuracy is required.

PT100 and PT1000 4-wire configuration

The 4-wire configuration provides the highest accuracy of the three options. It uses four wires: two for the current source and two for voltage measurement. The two pairs are separated, with one carrying current and the other measuring voltage. This completely eliminates wire-resistance effects, ensuring the measured resistance depends almost entirely on the PT100 or PT1000 sensor itself. The 4-wire arrangement is often used for precise temperature measurements where accuracy is critical.

DOL 112 NTC Temperature Sensor

DOL 112 NTC has a 1.4-metre, 2-wire cable. It comes in two versions: 1 K (resistance of 1 K Ohm at 25 ℃) and 10 K (resistance of 10 K Ohm at 25 ℃).

The DOL 112 NTC 1K sensor has an accuracy of 3% at 25 ℃, while the DOL 112 NTC 10K sensor has an accuracy of 1% at 25 ℃.
